Warnoco North needs our help!
Sitting sadly on 2nd Ave. just West of 14th Ave. is a building you might not notice.  It
looks run down, ignored, allowed to fall into disrepair.  When you walk in, ceiling tiles
are falling in, the floors are scattered with debris, you can see the sky through some of
the roof, but you can almost hear the purr of rolling wheels and laughing children.
This building was once Warnoco, it was a bustling, happening place where all the
locals went to roller skate.   We want to bring it back to its original glory!  We need
your help!  We are in the process of putting together a proposal to purchase the
building, renovate it, and return it to its original glory.  Not only would we use this
awesome facility to practice and put on bouts, but we would be able to open it to the
community.

The founder of Slaughterhouse Derby Girls, RollaRella, and her husband, Magic Man,
have renovated two homes and one commercial building.  They have kept the history
of each building in mind.  They went to visit this old rink and saw past the dust, the
debris, the damage.  They saw a rink with beautiful wood roof beams with a gleaming
finish.  They saw a rink floor highly polished, beautiful in its own right, with awesome
curved wood inlay.  They saw children laughing and holding their parents hands while
they skated around.  They saw an inviting lobby with refinished hard wood floors, a
welcoming environment for all.  They saw locker rooms for the beloved derby girls.
They saw the second rink, refinished and used as a practice rink.  All the holes were
patched, the outside was clean, the stucco was re-finished.  They saw what the
building was, past what it is, and forward to where it should be.

We need major help in order to undertake this awesome task.  We need architects,
inspectors, roofers, hardwood re-finishers, plumbers, electricians.  We need donations.
So, if you are willing to donate your time or money to bring this gem back to life, let us
know.

Respectfully pleading,
RollaRella

Update:  It seems that there is a clause in the deed that says there can never
be roller skating of any kind on the Warnoco property.  We are still
researching and hoping to make something work.  If nothing else, we may try
to salvage the historic floor and use it wherever we end up.  Read the
Greeley Tribune article
here.

We vowed to fight for the building formerly known as Warnoco North until it was clear the fight
was over.  We have had three lawyers look at the deed restriction and the news is not good.
Basically, if we purchase the property and use it as we intended to, the Norcross family would most
likely sue us.  The deed restriction would hold up in court (no matter how ridiculous it is) and we
would be without a place to skate again.  Not to mention we would then own a building we couldn't
use!  There is one last thing we are going to try before we cut our losses and move on.  We do have a
second option that is looking very promising, so we are confident we will have a place to skate.

Roller derby should be allowed to buy former Warnoco rink

We are very close to signing a lease on a space where we could
skate.  Thanks to the Tribune for supporting us and to all of you
who have been on our side as well.  As soon as we have a lease
signed, we'll schedule our October and December bouts!
